After you complete the page, click Apply and then Debug. The connection happens very quickly, and Eclipse switches to the debugging perspective by default. Remote debugging looks much like local debugging; if you re observant, you ll notice the IP address and port number in the call stack (two lines above the highlighted line in Figure 10-8) that shows that Eclipse is remotely debugging the class. Remotely debugging a complex Java application is essentially the same as doing so for this small example class. The arguments sent to the Java VM are the same for controlling the debugging session; the class path and initial class are, of course, different.

For once, rather than keeping the text layer separate, in this exercise you should merge the two layers. Right-click on the text layer in the Layers dialog and select Merge Down (Figure 9-16).

Embedding the shell on an embedded device isn t a demanding activity. The Bash shell is statically linked (so it runs under most circumstances); and all distributions come with a shell or some sorts, because this is necessary to run the startup scripts for the system.
